You may not see them, but if you listen closely you can hear many different bird calls.

Temperate forest animals list. In the past there were more deciduous forests, but many of these forests were cleared to make land for growing crops. Toward the polar regions they grade into boreal forests dominated by conifers, creating mixed forests of deciduous and coniferous trees. In fact, experienced biologists can identify many birds just by the calls they hear.

In some, needleleaf trees dominate, while others are home primarily to broadleaf evergreen trees or a mix of both tree types. Watch a video about temperate deciduous forests, or plants or animals that live in temperate deciduous forests. Deer and moose are the largest herbivorous mammals in the deciduous forest, but smaller herbivores such as squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits are also common, as well as omnivorous raccoons, skunks and possums.

This rainforest consists of conifers, ferns and animals like deer and salamanders. A temperate forest is a forest found between the tropical and boreal regions, located in the temperate zone.it is the second largest biome on the planet, covering 25% of the world's forest area, only behind the boreal forest, which covers about 33%.these forests cover both hemispheres at latitudes ranging from 25 to 50 degrees, wrapping the planet in a belt similar to that of the boreal forest. Animals in this forest have special adaptations to cope with these yearly changes.

They were put on the endangered species list in 1988. Another important characteristic of the temperate forest is the diversity of animal species. Evolution is at the root of all life on earth, driving animals to adapt to survive.

The temperate evanescent forest has four seasons: Winter, spring, summer and fall. In australia, animals such as koalas, possums and other marsupials inhabit the forest.

Some animals hibernate during the winter and arise in spring when food is more plentiful. A wide variety of animals inhabit these regions of temperate forests around the world including mammals, reptiles, birds and numerous different species of insect. They occur between approximately 25 and 50 degrees latitude in both hemispheres.
